Maintaining Good Health this Holiday Season

Traditions. We all have them. From holiday baking to Christmas caroling, they are the routine that sustains us in this hectic, fast-paced world. Traditions center us. They give us something to look forward to. They allow us to designate days and years with meaningful memories. 'Remember when....?', my mother will say. And I will.

One of my earliest memories is of my mother's holiday baking are the pies, cakes, and cookies specific to the season. Pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. Sanbakkels, peanut butter star cookies, and gum drop sweet bread to name a few.

Even now my dear, sweet mother is baking her delicious sweets for the holiday season, and I can smell the memories and taste the sweet butteriness of every year she's done this in the past. Years that will be cherished forever and never forgotten.

But, like many of you, I realize that the way we cooked, baked, and ate growing up will not sustain us in the future. White sugar, processed flour, and vegetable oil depletes our bodies of vital nutrients.

Now we know that raw, clean eating will extend our lives.

So, if you're like me, and still want traditions in your life, here are a few new traditions to begin establishing now to create change in the future.

1) Become a Shaklee member.

     a) Through December, 2010, Shaklee has generously extended their FREE membership with a $70 purchase. That's a $19.95 savings, plus 15% off all Shaklee products for life.

     b) My first order suggestion for you would be Vita Lea, B-Complex, and chewable Vita-C. This will get you through the next 60 days.

2) Join a Raw Eating Community. Here are a few resources to get you started:
    a) ShineOnRaw
    b) Rawmazing
    c) RawReform

3) Be kind to yourself. Make the transition from an unhealthy lifestyle to a healthy one a little at a time.

Dr James Dobson from Focus on the Family Radio used to say: 'Life is not a sprint; it's a marathon', so let's all keep running this race at peak performance.
